Today is supposed to be the last day of our bone chilling temps---it was at least -24 this am(hard to tell for sure as my thermometer stops registering when it gets below -20, maybe I need new batteries). Yesterday was nasty, with the wind, but we did have bright sunshine. Forecast is for mid 30s by next week. Yeah!! Saw on the news that even in the south it's been cold. We are all in for better days. Bundle up, throw another log on the fire and stay warm.

The pics are gorgeous, Nancy. Don't care much for the frigid temps but it looks nice. I plan to do exactly as you suggest and it's only getting to around +24ยบ here. Brrrrr.
Nancy -- NBC news yesterday said Minneapolis was expecting a 30 below today. I don't know if that happened, but your -24 probably would feel as cold as their -30. And yes, we are cold here as well. Janine's two water bowls outside were frozen solid this morning. Here in Kenner, though, the temp was above freezing. Cold enough for me and Liezel. Gretel has a lush fur coat and she doesn't mind cold weather at all, unless it snows. Neither of them liked that at all.
I have to agree with Nancy, it's been COLD! My outdoor thermometer quits registering at -25 and both yesterday and today it wouldn't register. Ashley said that up at school aka 'the tundra' it was -26 with a -41 wind chill! Nicole's school was cancelled yesterday and today they had a two hour late start. Still, it's great to have the sun shining!
Yeah Carol, the sunshine is wonderful!
It helps to intensify the instant headache and forehead burn you receive when you step outside!!! Bah humbug:(
I just could not, not, not live there! I hate cold weather! 78 degrees is just right for me! I hate having to bundle the kids up just to go anywhere. It tacks on many minutes to my already long list of things to do to get out the door. You all need to fly south for the winter!
I second Angela. I COULD NOT live there. When we had below freezing temperatures here a few days ago, Polina and Joe were wishing for snow again. While I was absolutely thrilled with the snow a month ago, I don't want a repeat episode. Actually 78F is still a little too cold for my blood. I like temperatures to be in the middle 80s.
I've become a big ninny about cold too. I am sitting here with a portable heater at my feet. This house is cold. After days of hard freezes here (in the 20's), it is going to be getting to 70 today I heard. Yay.
The "Good Citizen" award goes to Carol for getting to jury duty last week when roads were hazardous to drive on due to black ice. She told me there was gridlock traffic because of accidents, and yet, she made the big effort to do her civic duty by calling "Park n' Ride" and getting there no matter what the obstacles were. I was impressed. (The tundra - that's funny, Carol) It is hard to believe that kind of cold happens here.
Snow is pretty. Love seeing it in pictures.
