Happy New Year
Happy New Year

Did you do anything special? We spent a quiet evening at home but we did stay up past midnight just like the grownups. Yes, we have no life. :)

Okay, I'll bite. My evening was very uneventful. Ed napped while I worked on my new hobby of wood burning. I'm getting better with each piece I try, but I think I better keep my day job for a while.

I get to start off my new year with a funeral today. My little nephew (now 33) who was the ring bearer in my wedding died in a snowmobile accident last Sunday. Very sad.

I hope you all (or it is ya'll?) have a happy, healthy new year!

Joan -- Happy New Year to you as well. It was good to see your name up there, to know you're following the blog's news. Everyone here was glad to see the pictures of your mom and you and Laura. All of you looked great. When is your marathon?

Belated New Years greetings to all!!! I worked on the 31st, we went out to eat and then to bed as I had to work again the morning of the 1st. A boring start to the New Year, hopefully it will be a good one for everyone.

Hi Aunt Ginny,

The marathon I was training for was February 16 in Los Angeles, but the race promoters moved it to Memorial Day. Teresa (my running and best buddy) and I picked another Ragnar Relay to do, along with ten of our friends/ relatives. It's a leapfrog type race where each runner runs three separate legs of the 177 mile course. This one is from Los Angeles to San Diego the third week of April.

I'm trying to talk Teresa into doing the Mardi Gras Marathon in February of 2010. I told her we might have some cheerleaders there for us? Laura told me Joey runs, maybe some other cousins would join us for the full or half marathon if it was in your town? Something to think about anyway.

Joan -- I would if I could, but I have a dental appointment that I can't get out of. Sorry.

Stephen, Kellie, and Brianne all ran a half-marathon recently, maybe around Thanksgiving. Kellie was four months pregnant and did just fine.

Good luck in April and send us a report of it.

Joan, who knew you were training for a marathon?! That's AWESOME! The Mardi Gras race sounds fun. I would like to eventually run a full marathon, but it is just too time consuming right now. I may join you for the 1/2 though. My brother David is living in New Orleans right now, and I might be able to convince him to run as well, but don't hold your breath. Let us know how you do in LA!

Joan, Joey has been known to run but hasn't in a long time. He very easily picks it back up when the mood strikes him though. The Mardi Gras Marathon is usually in the midst of his very busiest season so he probably couldn't commit to running that one. We'll cheer you on if you come!
