Easter Sunday Fun

We had a lot of fun at Elizabeth's house on Easter Sunday. The weather was overcast and kept threatening to rain, but it held out for us to complete the two egg hunts that were planned. Elizabeth always does a fantastic job with these hunts, Fleetfoot!! This year the "little kid" hunt participants were Samuel, Luke, Jacob, and Polina. They got candy filled eggs and eggs with prize certificates that they redeemed for fun stuff from Elizabeth. The "big kid" egg hunt participants were Amy, Julia, Aaron, Mary Catherine, Jimmy, Jackson, and Joe. Their eggs contained money and gum. The big prize was one $50 bill hidden in one egg. Mary Catherine found that egg and most of the other money eggs as well- I think a total of around $75. Aaron was talking big stuff before the egg hunt saying, "I hope everyone brought their tissue for when I find the $50 egg." He was the big winner a few times in the past. After the egg hunts were over the children brought out a bucket game where the object was to put bean bags into other people's buckets that were on their backs. The person with the fewest bean bags was the winner. The kids had a lot of fun with this game and then the adults joined in. I've added a few links to the video I took of first the girls playing and then the boys playing. Too funny! It was a great day!

Update: I had to add this one from my sister's camera. It's the little people playing.

Good stuff, Angela. What about that first one?

That looks like so much fun!! It would probably be turned into a wrestling match over here!

These videos were such fun. The concept of the game is so simple but everyone got into it and took it seriously and it was wonderful to watch. I wish you could have captured Samuel when he was focused on Jacob, running round and round behind him determned to put the bean bag in his bucket. And all that racing eventually paid off! I loved the weather. It was so comfortable sitting outside with no hot sun beating down and a cool breeze keeping us alive. The food was excellent. The company was the best. The whole day was just great. What more could anyone ask for?

The bucket games, and bean bag competitions, were fun sports, to watch and play.

Elizabeth and Scott have the perfect place for an Easter gathering. The house is a showplace, so beautifully decorated and the egg hunts are something we all excitedly anticipate. Jackson said he was preparing his "winner" speech for afterwards. Those egg hunts are such fun. I can't believe Elizabeth called before-hand to see if Aaron and Julia would participate in one. Aaron almost missed a vacation last year so he wouldn't miss out on it. The friends delayed their trip by a day so he could come with them to Gulf Shores and not miss the event with his cousins.

There's always plenty of good food. My kids love Uncle Scott's barbecue expertise. They say the chicken is to die for. I bring a veggie burger and eat all the sides. The vegetarian baked beans they get for just me is appreciated. Nobody else will even touch them because they say "fat free". I like baked beans.

Fun, Fun videos! What fun memories for all of you!

Love that first one. Had to watch it multiple times ... following a different person each time.

Fun videos, Angela! It's funny how everyone got into those bucket games. Katie started the adults off by playing a game with the kids. I wish you had some video of the races. Patsy and Amy's pictures of the races are so funny.

I was so worried about the weather. We are so lucky it didn't rain. I remember the one time we had an Easter Egg Hunt inside when I lived in the other house. It was NO fun!

Janine, thanks for all the nice compliments. I do think Scott does a good job with the chicken.

The video of the little people playing this game is a great way to start a day. I watch it every morning and smile and laugh out loud, mainly watching Samuel, but also admiring the others who are trying hard to keep their buckets away from everyone else. What a fun game this was!
