Nicole turned 18 this past Friday (May 1st). We haven't had our family party yet but Dan, Nicole and I went out to dinner to celebrate the occasion. Then home for presents. Nicole loves chemistry and was thrilled w/ her new periodic table t-shirt. Goofy girl. Then on Saturday, it was the last Prom we will experience in our household. Whew! It was a beautiful day; nothing like last year's snow storm! Nicole went with a group of friends, none were boyfriend-girlfriend. So different now and sometimes I think better. Everyone and anyone can go if they want; you don't have to have a date. They ate dinner at her friend Kristen's house and everyone supplied extras, I provided Chocolate Mousse for dessert. It was a lovely affair. Ashley made Nicole's dress (again) and I think it turned out beautifully. I was so thankful that she made the dress because then I didn't have to endure shopping for a dress and shoes. Here are a few photos of the day. And Nicole's 18th birthday the day before.

Group Shot Prom 2009

Happy, Happy, Nicole.
Gorgeous, just gorgeous! Happy birthday Nicole.
Ashley did an amazing job on the dress. I'm sure it wasn't too hard when you have such a beautiful girl wearing the design. All the best in your future endeavors Nicole!
Yes, happy 18th birthday, Nicole. (You still have three years to order a mimosa.)
The dress is stunning. My favorite color, for one thing, and the fit and design are just wonderful. I made a myself a red prom dress for my junior prom, and although it wasn't nearly as grand, it suited me. Red is always pretty on just about everyone, I think.
Mary Catherine also went to her prom last week and they do the same thing at her school -- a date isn't necessary at all. She did have a date actually, but she has gone with her group of girlfriends to many events and nobody thinks anything of it.
That would not have happened in my day, and I remember my mother on the telephone trying to find a date for my brother's regimental ball at St. Thomas. She even asked his same-age cousin if she'd go with him! So I'm glad it has changed to something more fun, more reasonable, less pressure.
Aunt Ginnie, red is my dad's favorite color too! It's fun to get all dolled up and play princess for a day. I'll make sure Nicole reads all the well wishes. Thanks.
Aunt Ginnie, red is my dad's favorite color too. I will make sure Nicole reads all the well wishes. Ashley worked her behind off making that dress all Easter weekend. Talk about a labor of love. :o)
Beautiful dress! Such a wonderful talent to have! Happy Birthday, Nicole.
Nicole,
You look stunning! I especially like the last picture posted. It looks like a picture in a magazine of a British Royal. You are so lucky to have a sister like Ashley, who not only knows how to sew but is willing to actually do it for you! The dress came out great. I, too, love red.
Happy Belated Birthday! I am glad you had a great time for prom.
Mary Catherine didn't have the best time at prom. Her date wasn't feeling well and had to leave just one hour after the prom started. She said the music wasn't very good. She had a great time at dinner before the dance and an even more fantastic time at the party after.
hat as gorgrous dress. Love the color. Nicole, have you ever looked into modeling?
Who gave her the Periodic elements table tee? Cute.
What hat?? I gave her the periodic table tee. Fun huh?!
THAT is what I get for typing without my glasses on. I misspelled gorgeous too. Pooh. The dress is so cosmopolitan and sophisticated. Asley if very talented. She could model too. Your girls are both beautiful.
Another typo... "if" should be is. You know that don't you? I really should proof these comments before submitting.
