Jude's First Birthday

Jude is 12 months old today. The ordeal of his birth is so fresh in my mind that I can hardly believe we are already at this milestone. He's doing great, in spite of his early arrival. He's still just a peanut though, barely on the charts. He's crawling around really well and pulling to stand but not cruising furniture just yet. He's also saying "mama", "dada", and "baba" which the boys say is "bubba" for brother...never mind that we don't really refer to them as that! He's pretty much off baby food now too, eating whatever we eat. I still send baby food to daycare though, just for the convenience. The school lunch is neither appetizing nor nutritious looking so we won't be trying that anytime soon!

We celebrated his birthday on Mother's Day. We had everyone over to our tiny little house for burgers...what else?!! It was a really nice, hot day. Jude was not impressed at all with his cupcake. In fact, he pushed it away. Later on, I fed it to him with some ice cream and he liked it better then.

School is finally coming to a close. Just 9 more days. I can't wait to be at home with all my boys. These last days sure to drag on though!

Nice pics, Christina. Wish we could have been there.

Gorgeous pictures of some beautiful people. I agree that Jude has grown up fast. Seems such a long time ago that I received that 4 a.m. call. You know, there weren't charts 37 years ago and I'm wondering if you and your sister might have been "off the charts" at age one. Your were very small but nobody thought anything of it. Maybe he would have been off the charts even if he'd been delivered at 9 months.

Jude looks absolutely adorable! I cannot believe he is still not on the charts since he looks like he has filled out so nicely. I love his cubby arm and cheeks in the first picture. He looks just as happy as can be. I also love the cake! Did you make that? It is very nice. I am looking forward to the beach trip. I think Jude and Barrett will have fun together.

I did not make the cake. I'm not much of a baker. I got it from Sam's. I saw it on display and thought it was cute so that's what I went with. I didn't taste a cupcake but I took the leftovers to work the next day and left them in the teacher's lounge in the morning. By the time I went up in the afternoon, they were all gone! I guess they were good. I can't wait for the beach trip either, Kellie. I plan to bring a small pool and fill it with fresh water for the babies to play in on the beach. A friend of mine told me that's what she does each year and that the men are in charge of filling the pool each day. She said the little kids love it. It sounds like a great idea so we'll try it out.

It was a nice space to have a gathering. My veggie burger was delicious. I guess Phil doesn't get much call for them, but mmmm.

Jude is so good-natured. What an ordeal those first weeks were, but look at him now. It's amazing to me how well he's done. Modern miracle and sweet little boy.

Can't wait to get to the beach. Should I bring my faded beach umbrella? It's functional, but you know how you yuppies are? I don't want to embarrass you.

Christina,

Jude is so adorable. I can't believe he is a year old. I'm with your Mom - I think people worry about the charts too much these days. He looks very happy and healthy to me. I still say, he reminds me of your Dad, except with blonde hair. I don't know what it is but every time a see a picture of Jude I think of your Dad.

I love the pool idea. Sounds like fun and it will keep the little ones close which will reduce my worries some. :-)

I love all the photos! Can't believe how big all the young cousins are getting to be.
And that Jude!---if he's not the grandson of Aunt Ginnie I don't know what!!! How is it he looks so unlike the brothers?
Amd Aunt Catherine a great gramma---congrats to all!

Welcome aboard, Molly.
