We have been enjoying our summer at home with the boys so far.
Barrett turned 16 months on May 25th and Wyatt turned 1 month on May
30th. Wyatt has lost all that nice hair on the top of his head and is
looking much like an old man. He did very well at his one month check
up. He weighs 10 lbs. 5 oz. already. He gained 4 lbs. and grew almost
2 inches in his first month. He is nursing very well and growing nicely.
Barrett started swimming lessons two weeks ago and will finish his
last class tomorrow. He was fine with the water until five minutes
into his first lesson when they started dunking under water. He
quickly changed his mind about it all. Much of the first three class
he spent crying. There was a lot of dunking involved and Stephen was
beginning to get a little frustrated (he was the "mommy" for the
lessons). I decided I would give Stephen a break and get in with
Barrett for a few days. After his third lessons he began warming up
to it all and started smiling and splashing. He now will go under
without crying and will even swim on his own with a noodle holding
him up. He has made vast improvements and and we are so happy about
it. Stephen has taken over in the water again and things are going
very well. He worked with Barrett today on hand walking down the
wall, climbing up the side, and climbing out using the ladder. You
have to be careful when you let Barrett out though...he likes to make
a break for it!
Wyatt was baptized last Saturday in the gown Miss Sue made in
college. He was the 13th baby to be baptized in the gown and he
looked beautiful in it. I was a little disappointed in the set up of
the baptism. We were scheduled for a Saturday baptism and I was
excited thinking it would be an intimate ceremony with just our
family. When I learned that some friends of ours were having their
son baptized the same day, I still thought, "Oh, how nice...just the
two of us." When we arrived on Saturday, we found that 13 babies were
being baptized. The sight was far from what I had imagined. Patrick
(the Godfather) coined it an "all you can baptize buffett." We were
all a little disappointed but it went well and Wyatt was a perfect
angel through it all. Both of our families were there and every one
came to our house afterward for a cookout. My friend, Rachel, was the
Godmother. She was also the Maid of Honor in my wedding.
At home, Barrett has been enjoying some outside fun. My parents got
him a picnic table for his birthday that you can put water (and sand)
in to make it a play table. We have only done the water, but he
absolutely loves it! Flick seems to like it as well. Yesterday, I got
out the bubbles and Barrett had a blast chasing them around the yard.
I have to admit, I had a pretty good time too.

Barrett and Wyatt

Fun stuff. Love the table ... and Barrett's big grin.
Wonderful pictures. There was one -- I have to go up and see which number -- okay, the sixth -- that I just loved. The sly grin on Barrett's face is priceless! All of them, though, are really great. And Kellie. You look fantastic. Now I admit I'm a little prejudiced, but really. Is it fair for the godfather to be more gorgeous than the godmother?
It has been such a treat this morning to have pictures of the beautiful Savannah and the beautiful Wyatt show up at the same time. It entertained me mightily. Thank you.
What wonderful pictures of adorable children. That's so cute how Wyatt's hair is out on top. He's very precious. Barrett too. What a great table. I marvel at Fisher-Price's innovations.
That's so cool that Barrett had swim lessons. You and Stephen are a good parentiing team.
Julia and I are baby-sitting 3 days a week. An almost 2 year old girl, Ruby, and her brother, Cooper, who is almost 3 months old. We are having fun with it, plus Julia is getting paid well for it. Our arrangement is that I help her with the child care and she will buy her own clothes for the upcoming year. She's been uniform until now - entering 9th grade. She's got strong likes and dislikes, so that suits us both just fine. I am counting days until she gets her license and can take her own self shopping. :( (Sept. 15, 2010)
Great pics. What a little butterball Wyatt is turning out to be!! 4lbs in one month...wow!! I can't wait to meet him and see Barrett. They're precious.
I just studied these pictures again. I missed the Stephen-dunking-Barret the first time. He is holding him beneath the water? How did that go?
I also missed the most wonderful and most beautiful crocheted afghan I've ever seen. That is so gorgeous, Sue.
Upon closer study, I think Wyatt looks like Ron Howard and thus, like a first cousin, twice-removed, named Gary Bye. It's the particular hair-do that does it, I suppose.
I have to go now. There are a couple of pictures I need to look at closer and then I'll move on to Savannah's group.
Barrett and Wyatt are so cute! I can't wait to see them next month. We are going to have so much fun in FL. The condo has such great amenities for our young toddlers! Wyatt doesn't look at all like Barrett but for some reason I still see Stephen in him. Sorry Kellie, you must have weak genes like mine- all three of mine look like Hunters, even Savannah!
We were thinking that Wyatt looked a lot like Barrett's newborn pictures, but now he is really developing his own look. Several people have said that they think he looks like Stephen too...or Ron Howard!
Grandma, Stephen had to dunk Barrett underwater about 6 times at our first class. It was ridiculous and Barrett hated it. He warmed up to the underwater experiences by the end but I never dreamed we would have him underwater so much.
Oh, I also meant to put a disclaimer in my post to let everyone know that I did not pick out Barrett's outfit for the water fun outside. I think Stephen just grabbed two items in close proximity and threw them on Barrett. I would never pair stripes and plaid.
His great grandfather and his great great grandfather used to do plaid and stripes. It runs in the family. It skipped me, though ... not that anyone should take my fashion advice.
Now that you mention it, I had to go back and look at the outfit. That is a precious picture of a happy child. Love it.
Michael always seemed to find clothes I buried in the bottom of the kids' dresser drawers - the ones that I neglected to put in the goodwill bag. Of all the clothes he had to dig through to get to them, it was always a wonder to me how he did that.
That's funny Kellie, isn't that the outfit you dressed him in when we went to lunch? Hmmmmm
Kellie - Was thinking about you and your family and checked out your blog to see if there were new pics of the boys. Precious!! Barrett is losing that baby look and starting to look like a full fledged toddler. Wyatt is growing so fast! Not sure he looks like now...I see a little of both of you and Stephen. Miss seeing you and hearing about the adventures of parenting the Clayton boys. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
