It has been a tradition in our family (ever since Stephen was 2 years old) to make pumpkin cookies every fall. My mom started making them when she was working with Karen Okamato at the psychiatric hospital on the children's unit in Denver. They used to make the cookies and let the kids decorate them. It has fallen upon myself and my mother in the recent years to make them(Little Red Hen), while everyone else in the house just likes to enjoy the finished product! They are decorated with mini chocolate chips and Patrick likes to make ghoulish faces with the chocolate bits.
Barrett ate his first pumpkin cookie last weekend, after a dinner of Creole Daube. He thoroughly enjoyed it, and was going around with his mouth open like a little bird while everyone else ate theirs! Mom sent some to Bunk since he was missing out. And she has passed on the recipe to Angela and she was making her first batch this year. They are wonderful and something we look forward to every fall!!

Nice pics, Brianne. Love the pumpkin face.
Very cute! Looking forward to making them with my boys, maybe Wednesday.
Mmmmmm. Those cookies look yummy. Barrett is so cute. Do they have pumpkin in the mix, or are they just shaped like that?
I made Halloween cookies too - which were sugar cookie cut-outs of witches on a broom, pumpkins, scaredy cats. I made 3 different colored icings which got all blobbed on by Julia. They still tasted allright.
I want to see pictures of trick-or-treaters. I am sorry I missed out on all that fun. Work wasn't exactly a bad time, though. I made a lot of money which is a good thing since I spend it like water.
The cookies do have pumpkin pie filling in them, as well as oats. They are very good.
