Super Sunday

GEAUX Saints

My Super Bowl routine today will be the same as my Saints gameday routine. I hate the late start. Woke up at 8:30AM. I'll tool around the house, the yard, and the computer. If I watch TV, I'll watch anything but pregame silliness. I'll turn the TV to the game as close to kickoff as possible. I won't be able to be around others except Patsy and she had better learn to sit still. We can only have one nervous nellie in the house and I called dibs on it 43 years ago.

We'll have seven layer dip, chicken salad, chips, and boudin. I have a Super Bowl story for those of you who know what seven layer dip is. Patsy made it for the first time ever for a Super Bowl party that our friends were having. We took separate cars to that party because Patsy had to work and wouldn't get there until later. I brought the dip, put it on the table, and went outside, where the guys were all gathered around the barbecue pit drinking beer. The wives and girlfriends stayed inside. No, this was the 80s, not the 50s. For the record, the seven layer dip Patsy makes is kept chilled and served chilled or room temperature. When I had finally gone inside, my beloved hostess asked me how long she should leave it in the oven. It had been in the oven long enough to where the cheese had melted pretty good. It wasn't totally ruined but it wasn't the best seven layer dip ever. :(

you'll probably hear the hollering from here! John is the antsy one here(it's been said he needs some Valium at times). We are having sloppy joes(barbeques to some), chips, baked beans and whatever else I can dream up. Have fun.

We were getting "CRUNK" at my house last night! I wish I would have videoed some of the hype but it was such excitement! Joey and I went down to the French Quarter after the game with David Clayton, Lars, and Amy. We parked very far away and walked in. The closer we got the traffic became grid-locked and people were hanging out of their cars and dancing on the hoods. Everyone was honking and screaming "Who Dat!" It was very exciting but I was done after about 30 minutes of soaking that up. Julia and Shelby stayed at my house to keep my 3 bambinos. Katie stayed back to clean my kitchen- thank you, Katie!!!!

Yes, it was a great night. Phil went to the airport with 10 thousand of his closest friends yesterday to greet the players. He said the energy and excitement in the air was insane. We are going to bundle up and head to the city today for the parade. Thank you Dianne Roussel for giving us a 2hr early release so we can make it down there in time. Really, education is overrated in the face of a Saints parade!!! Who Dat!!
