Wyatt's First Birthday

We celebrated Wyatt's birthday on May 1st at our house. I was amazed that a year had passed so quickly. The events of April 30, 2009 are so vividly etched in my mind that it seemed impossible for little Wyatt to already be celebrating his first birthday. A year ago, we were at Patrick's 16th birthday party when I was pretty certain that I was in labor. I thought I did a good job of keeping my feelings secret but Grandma Ferrara (in town for Patrick's confirmation and birthday) read my body language and knew something was up. When we got home from the party that night I let Stephen know what was going on and Wyatt was born during the early hours of the 30th...just in time for Grandma to see him before she caught her flight back to New Orleans.

Wyatt wore a little birthday outfit that was passed down to me from Christina (I believe) and he looked adorable. We had some dips for appetizers and Texas BBQ with fries for dinner. My sister's girls were here for the party and all of the toddlers ate at the "kiddie table." Nonnie volunteered to make Wyatt's birthday cake and it turned out perfect! She recently took a cake decorating class with her friend Delphine and as you can see, it paid off. I was so grateful and the cake looked fantastic.

Wyatt did very well opening and sharing his gifts with his 2 year old brother. Barrett inherently proclaimed, "MINE!" after each gift was opened. He thought for sure that all of those things must be for him.

Wyatt devoured his cake like a champ. He knew exactly what to do and all but inhaled the piece he was given. I am planning to investigate what he has been eating at Miss Beverly's.

Wyatt is excited about all of his new toys and books...we just have to keep Barrett at bay so Wyatt can enjoy them. Ugh!

These are darling pictures. Perfect little people. The little girls are adorable, very pretty. I loved the Wyatt crying -- Barrett studying him with interest -- picture. Nobody seems concerned or alarmed -- what were the tears about? I have a picture of Stephen seated on a little chair at my house for his first birthday picture that looks pretty much the same as Wyatt's -- even though Wyatt looks more like Kellie than Stephen. Nonnie's cake turned out beautiful and looks delicious. And Kellie, your hair is extraordinary and elevates the pictures a notch. Very nice. Thanks for sharing.

Wyatt was crying because Barrett took the train toy from him just after he got it open. We are in store for lots of lessons about sharing. Oh, thanks for the kind comment about my hair. I have been wondering lately if I should cut it short since I am getting "older" but I think I will keep it like this through the summer. It is so nice to be able to wear it curly and pull it up with ease.

Kellie,
These pictures are just precious! You are right about the lessons about sharing...I remember when my nephews were that age and my sister-in-law and I spent much time prying them off each other because they wanted the same toys. Wyatt looks like such a big boy. Your babies are growing so fast. Where does the time go? Don't cut your hair! You are not even close to being older...wait at least until you are 30! (Smile)

Kellie, Luke wore that outfit for his 1st birthday. So glad to see it again on someone in the family! I love the clown cake- Ms. Geraldine did a great job!! I think Wyatt looks even more like Stephen than Barrett does, something about that chair he's sitting on- I can picture a one year old Stephen so vividly on that chair!

Oh and Kellie, I forgot to say that the lessons about sharing are never ending, which is why we have two of just about everything- it helps me keep my sanity!
