Recruiting and Auctions

Postby Hyde » Wed Dec 10, 2008 6:34 pm

I was just reading some LSU recruiting news and this thought occurred to me: The strategy of college recruiting seems to me, in one way, to be somewhat similar to the strategy involved in a fantasy football auction.

You have a cap (scholarship limit) and you don't fill out your team in order as in an NFL or fantasy draft. So you have to decide/gamble on having enough cap/scholarships around when the player you really want comes up for bid/makes up his mind. Do I bid/offer to player A when I'd rather have player B? Getting player A will probably take me out of the running for player B due to cap restraints/player B not wanting to compete with player A. etc.

Don't know where I was going with this... :?

I think it's more like a NFL draft. Do you draft according to need or take the best player available?

That doesn't really work, either ... :? :? :?

Get your purple and gold swimp bootz, cause looks like Coach O will Be LSU's ass head coach, recruiting coordinator and also defensive line coach. Yaw Yaw Yaw!
Also looks like either UCLA DC or Tenn DC as DC of LSU
Mallory is at New Mexico and Paveto to NW LA
Lane to FAO in Florida (not Schwartz - Team Hyde) :|

We'll see how this goes!
