Just read this about the NFL:

In a capped year, teams are limited to either a franchise tag or a transition tag.

I think we could consider keeping our three tag definitions in place and allow each owner only one tag. It would simplify things a little bit and put more unrestricted players in the auction pool. Assuming, of course, that simplification and more player auctions is what we want. It would undoubtedly add length to an already too lengthy annual event, though.

But agreed on simplification/more auction/add length. And I don't really have a problem with that.

The "add length" part has me thinking about my crazy combination auction/draft idea - but at this point that notion is even more half baked than sleeper keeper. It involves at some point in the auction switching to a straight draft. That's about as far as I can take it on the day after the ten days of Super Bowl Mega-Carnival.

I'd like us to stay a little more focused at the end of the auction. It always gets a little raggedy then. The CFFL gets it over with in two hours. I see no reason Ya Boys can't do it in three.
