Guest Again - Me 3
I’m not only a guest blogger but also a virgin blogger. I have to confess to not really “getting” what blogging is all about. But, I’m fascinated nonetheless. Thanks for the forum, Rob.
Wasn’t sure what to say here so I’ll just comment on something I just read about that I DO “get” – Spiderman. Movie #2 opens tomorrow (midnight tonite if you can’t wait that long). I hope it lives up to the hype and based on everything I’ve heard I think it will. I collected Marvel Comics as a kid back in the ‘70s. I have been trying to understand why it took so long for Hollywood to discover the Spiderman franchise. I realize a lot of it has to do with Marvel’s legal problems. But it looks like the movies have finally figured out a way to adapt a comic to the big screen. In defense of all the other movie adaptations that fall short (Superman, Batman, you name ‘em), the filmmakers never had as much to work with as they do here. To steal a phrase from a review I read, there is an “emotional core” to Spiderman that the others lack. I think the reviewer is referring to the films, but he could just as easily be referring to the heroes themselves. If you are a Spiderman fan, then you know what I'm talking about. If you're not, I humbly suggest giving this movie a try. For me, when I read these reviews, I feel vindicated in “wasting” my unearned allowance on Spiderman comic books.

Hyde found the Real Men of Genius spot I was looking for yesterday. I was looking at that site just the day before and it wasn’t there. It was the one everyone wanted to hear, though. Anyway, here it is and it’s a hoot. The one delmer mentioned in the ... Read More

I think it should be noted here that those 5:30 am posts from Crabapple Lane are already a thing of the past.
I haven't seen any movies lately but I did go to Blockbuster yesterday and left without renting anything. It really confused the guy up front.
Have you ever been on the Spiderman ride at Islands of Adventure? OMG.
I'm ashamed to say that I have not been to Orlando since having kids (?). High on my to-do list though. And I don't do 5:30 either. We'll leave that time slot for the owner.
Spiderman was my favorite as a kid, too. I never collected the comic books but I used to read his strip in the now-defunct States-Item. Doc Ock was the villain, then, so I am definitely looking forward to Spiderman 2.
