Lost morning
Spent the better part of my morning fighting the computer. And losing. The culprit this time was my email program. Thankfully, I made backups Sunday and they work. Didn’t lose anything except some time, a few more brain cells, and a little more hair. Some find this sort of thing stimulating. I suppose that’s one word for it but its not one of the many I might have chosen this morning.
I find part of this satisfying and part of it frightening. The satisfying part is that someone had to pay a fairly large settlement for their spamming activities. The frightening part is that they could pay it. I always thought the spamming community was like gnats with PO boxes and fake IP addresses and the like. That any of them have real, physical addresses and the resources to fight back or pay large settlements is a little unsettling.

I have an excellent team of physicians, and we are optimistic about my prognosis. ... I hope before too long to be hearing news of my good health and recovery.

I wonder on what grounds Microsoft sued. Was it because it clogged up their customers email servers? If I had a lot of money, could I just sue a spammer?
I'm glad the spammer had to pay something, but why Microsoft?
It doesn't say what the grounds were. As for you suing a spammer, I think anyone can sue anyone for basically anything, Kim. I wouldn't expect a $7 million settlement, though. Microsoft says they are going to use the money to fight spam. If they can eliminate it, I could probably forgive all of their other trespasses.
