Thursday Tidbits and some City Park Stuff
As I was tooling around last night looking for information about FDR Mall (See 3rd photo below), I ran across a site that has the same photographic interest in City Park since Hurricane Katrina as I do except she goes into more detail and has better photos. Her photo of "Roosevelt Mall in the Rain" is what informed me about FDR Mall.

City Park - New Orleans, LA - December 5, 2007 - Told Sheila O'Malley that I loved the tilt in her photo the other day. Not as wild about it in mine. Thought about correcting it but decided against it. I was level.

City Park goose - New Orleans, LA - December 5, 2007- This is one of the less silly geese I encountered yesterday. There were 10-12 geese, 15-20 ducks, and 7-8 swans in the area I chose to eat. The geese were honking and chattering at absolutely everything.

FDR Mall - City Park sign - New Orleans, LA - December 5, 2007 - In spite of the directions, I'm not certain where FDR Mall is or was although I think it might refer to the street and its attendant live oak canopy.
Quote of the Day
And the Ohio State defense? Pretty darn effective against Big Ten Conference opponents.
But this is big-boy football now.

I've never heard of a silly goose. Oh, I get it. That's like a fond father saying to a child, "Oh, you're such a silly goose," a declaration of fondness. Is that it? Sometimes the gander can be quite ferocious. I was chased by one at my uncle's farm, all the way to the outhouse. And then, he paced like a sentry, waiting for me to come out, knowing there was only one exit. What about the swans? Were they sedate and dignified, as always? I love seeing them. Anyway, I liked all the pictures.
"Silly goose" is a term I've heard many times. Not sure where it originated or where I heard it first. I don't use that term, though. One of the more ferocious ones chased a jogger off of her desired path. The swans were sedate and dignified this time but most of my experiences observing them lead me to the conclusion that they are tyrants of the park lagoons.
I like that first photo and wouldn't have thought about the tilt if you hadn't mentioned it. What's that building?
My last job was located close to the Mississippi where there's a wildlife refuge. We would get flocks(dozens and dozens) of canadian geese that would come up into the office park from there. Every so often they would get pretty aggressive towards some of my coworkers as they entered or left the building. They never did go after me though. Maybe they can sense which people have a firm grasp of the food chain.
I think that building and pen-like fence is about boat rentals but I am not certain.
Geese & ducks both remind me of grumpy old men, complaining noisily to anyone who'll listen.
I am so enjoying your City Park pix....keep 'em coming!
