Merry Christmas from CrabAppleLane

Merry Christmas
I offer some FlickR photos of New Orleans that have caught my eye.
Ever seen the French Quarter in New Orleans at night? Go see this fantastic photo from justanuptowngirl taken just a few days ago. This is one of the best photos I have ever seen of the Quarter. Just WOW.
A restaurant tells you everything you need to know about their menu in four words in this photo from HolmesBartonHolmes. Well, it's all I need to know.
And this one from New Orleans Lady. I love that photo but I can't really say why. Probably the abandonment aspect but I'll have to think about it some more.
And, finally, this one from JoeZeppi. My great, great aunt had an efficiency apartment on Governor Nicholls Street. No bicycle, though. She was bedridden.
Quote of the Day
Holmes and BartonHolmes met in high school, hung out in the darkroom of their photography class together, and cruised around the city looking for the perfect shot and good onion rings.

Thanks for the NO photos. Perhaps I'll get there one day. Hope you're having a great holiday.

Merry Christmas, Rob. I love that French Quarter shot. The comments to the New Orleans Lady photo said something about the "OCH zone", what's that?
Quite welcome, Kem. Merry Christmas to you.
"OCH zone" is not a term I've heard before, Dave. It might mean "old courthouse" but I can't be certain.
Dave,
This from New Orleans Lady:
"OCH is a term used as the home is in the area off of Oretha Castle Haley Blvd."
That's not my neck of the woods, Dave. I had never heard that term before. I know where that street is, though. A very famous automotive air conditioning company was located there but I'm not certain if they're still down there.
Ok, thanks. I thought it might have been a term related to the post-Katrina status of the neighborhood or something. I'm still trying to figure out just what the heck is going on down there.
Hope your Christmas was merry, from the looks of the photos it certainly was bright!!!
What's going on here is uplifting and heartbreaking, Dave. A step forward, a step back. Fits and starts. I don't think ANYONE has a handle on the whole picture.
Thanks, Andrea. Merry Christmas to you, too.
