Birthday/Tax Weekend at CrabAppleLane

It’s a birthday weekend at CrabAppleLane. My sister’s today, mine yesterday, brother-in-law’s tomorrow. It’s also tax day. I prepared our returns without TurboTax this year just like I used to before last year. My returns are not all that complicated and I don’t have much trouble with the IRS. I’m one of their best customers. It went fine and I'm getting a refund. On the state side, the Louisiana e-filing website once again bowled me over. If you're a typical Louisiana resident filing a typical return for your household, you can go to Louisiana's website, file within a minute or two, and print out your return. You need not ever take pencil/pen to paper except maybe to verify. Very, very user-friendly. Aces to the person or persons responsible for it.

I offer one from the backyard on this rather warm CrabAppleLane Sunday.

Birthday present from the wife - February 17, 2008 Birthday present from Patsy - February 17, 2008
Got this gorgeous birdhouse from my wife for my birthday yesterday. Looks a little too pretty for the elements and the birds but she insists that's what it's for. Anxious to see if it will be successful where I hung it today. It's in a tallow tree about 9ft off of the ground.

About today's QOTD. Who says the NFL is the only sport that micromanages their image?

Quote of the Day
The powers that be at NASCAR have informed Ashley Judd, the movie star wife of Sprint Cup rookie Dario Franchitti, that she should not wear a dress at Sunday's Daytona 500.

Or any other races.
David Newton, ESPN.com

Blog of the day here.

Quote from said blog: "After trolling the garage area, it seems after about 10 laps in todays’ 50th running of the Daytona 500, that track conditions are going to deteriorate extremely quickly."

Happy Belated Birthday, Rob!

I'm putting off doing my taxes because early estimates show I'll owe this year. Next year will be better.

Love the birdhouse and the view. :)

Yes, that is a beautiful birdhouse. It will be nice if a family settles in, but really, just as nice if it's left empty. Very pretty.

Also, Kevin has a nice collection of pictures on his blog. I've never visited it and didn't know it was still active. I'll have to pay better attention.

Happy Birthday, Rob. That's a cute anecdote at the FTB link. My five siblings and I had some similar word issues as toddlers.

Lovely birdhouse! Here's to many years of use.
After 18 years in Canada I can't do my US taxes. I can barely remember what the American holidays are, to be honest. My husband's birthday is the day after mine & I know about 6 people who were all born on Feb. 6th.

Happy Birthday Rob. You'll have to let us know if that upscale birdhouse causes a rift.

Thanks, everyone. I'll see this weekend if the new house is attracting any prospective renters. By the way, it is ceramic and fairly heavy. That's what concerns me. I have it pretty secure but it can still sway in the wind. I'll surely take it in after the nesting season.
