Shoe's on the other foot with hummingbirds

Bet you don't see that title every day. Today's mini-rant and QOTD courtesy of USA Today:

Nearly 3 million homeowners were behind on their mortgages at the end of last year, the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) said last week. An additional 1 million-plus borrowers were at risk of imminent foreclosure.

When an ordinary citizen gets in over his head, Mortgage Bankers say, "Awww, that's too bad.". Now that Mortgage Bankers have gotten in over their head, this ordinary citizen is tempted to say the same thing. However, I can only say this from the comfort of my locked-in interest rates on my mortgage, credit cards, and auto loan for the next few years. Hopefully, the crisis will have been dealt with before I need to ask anyone for money again.

I'm so glad my mortgage is reasonable & FIXED. Congrats on the hummingbird! Tres cool. :)

I'm very glad that I have not taken out a home equity loan to finance some indulgent whim or had to for some kind of crisis. Yet(crossing myself here). I'm sympathetic to people who have had to do the latter, not so much those who chose the former.

Last Friday the temp was -6 when I got up. This afternoon it hit almost 50, so things are looking up. I'm still jealous of your latest photos though. Spring Fever is hitting hard now.

Thanks, Lana. Yes, tres cool. We love them. Do you put out feeders for them?

I don't know who I'm madder at. The "borrowers who owe more than their homes are worth and simply mail in the keys, rather than try to work out a new payment plan" or the loan officer(s) who let them get that deep. Every closing I've been involved in involved an extensive and expensive process of appraisals and credit checks ostensibly to avoid this predicament. Something is wrong here.

I haven't seen any hummingbirds here...but we had a flock of seagulls (not the band) fly through over the weekend :)

Rob; No, we don't feed them, as I'm deathly allergic to bees (which hummingbird feeders seem to attract.) That doesn't mean they don't come up on our deck to check out my red candle holders, though!
