Dark Shadows

I watched Dark Shadows as a kid. I only remember a handful of the characters. Barnabus Collins and Quentin come to mind. Seeing an episode as an adult many years after it first aired dimmed my fascination somewhat. It was campy and more than a little dreadful. A movie might be fun, though. Charlotte gets my vote as casting director.

Congratulations to Nightfly and Ladybug.

What others are saying

Dark Shadows was once my favorite show and I'm with you, seeing it as an adult, makes me want to hide my eyes. Dreadful is the word.

Barnabus Collins is the only character I recall. Wasn't Dark Shadows sort of a soap opera with vampires and broadcast during the day?

I used to watch Dark Shadows on Sci Fi. I loved it. So cheesy and bad, much like Passions is today. I also watched the few epis of the remake they did awhile back.

I know, Susan. I'm ashamed of myself. :)

Yes, it was, delmer. Probably why it appealed to me. Soap operas were a little over my 12yr old head. :)

Definitely cheesy, Andrea.

Like delmer, I only remember Barnabus Collins. I also was disappointed when I saw it as an adult. I guess we have much higher standards now. :)

I like to think so, Kim. :)

My parents wouldn't let me watch Dark Shadows. Which, looking back, I don't know why since we all watched Twilight Zone as a family. However, I caught enough bits and pieces of it at my friends' houses to know what was going on. But, I don't think I could watch it today having watched David Selby on Falcon Crest.

My cousin said it was forbidden in her house, too, Marie. I guess my aunt and uncle were afraid my cousins would have nightmares.
