Randy Moss announced his retirement yesterday. I'm not totally convinced. He has offers but they're reflective of half-ass Randy, not all-in Randy. He has no one to blame but himself for that. When I first saw Moss against the Saints, he was with the Vikings and the Saints had no one in their secondary who could cover him. He could just outrun the double coverage and he did exactly that. They were scared to death of him. He beat the Saints badly the first two times I saw him. That was all-in Randy. Many years later when he was with New England, the Saints beat him badly. I wouldn't say that teams had figured him out in those intervening years because whether you got him off his game or not was really up to him.
What his critics said about him is true. He took plays off. That was half-ass Randy. That's unforgivable in my book. You have offensive linemen busting their butt getting beat up on every play and you've got quarterbacks and wide receivers seeing defensive backs in areas that would have been cleared out if everyone was doing their jobs. What I'll never understand, though, is other players, such as the Saints Heath Evans last year, saying Randy Moss was a great teammate. The two played together at New England. He is not and was not a great teammate. He was everything but. He was the game's most selfish player.
No way to dispute his talent, his accomplishments, or some of the most spectacular games ever for a wide receiver, though. He's a first ballot Hall-Of-Famer.
37 days until Saints v Packers

You're right on the money, Rob. I gave him a second chance last year and he lost me again on a play that would have been a sure TD if hadn't quit on it. I think any team that signs him on at this point would be foolish.
I remember that, Dave. I wouldn't want him on my team or in my locker room. I want a guy who is prepared to totally lay out and get as battered and bloodied as I am. Fair weather types need not apply.
