| Note of interest:
If you want a chance at a player but he's been tagged as a franchise player, there are two courses of action you
can pursue: 1.) Try offering his owner an opening bid. That won't guarantee the final auction price or guarantee that you get him but it may entice the owner to put him up for bid. Offers are posted in the boxes with yellow backgrounds. If two owners agree on an opening bid, they will be posted in boxes with blue backgrounds. Offers can be made and accepted up until auction. Offers are non-binding on either party. Accepted offers are binding on both parties. Conditional offers linked to their conditions. Accepted offers count against your salary cap. 2.) Purchase the player outright from the current owner prior to auction. If the current owner and a prospective buyer can agree on a price, they can consummate a deal prior to auction. The seller adds the difference between the sales price and the tag amount to his available cap dollars. The buyer gets the player and must deduct the price from his salary cap available for auction. (Ex. For 2004 - Owner A has tagged a RB for $44. Owner A agrees to sell this RB to Owner B for $60. Owner A enters the auction with $166. Owner B enters the auction with this RB and $90.) |
